FAO secretariats, government officers and researchers from Kenya and Ghana visited GIAHS sites in Shizuoka on August 16th.

This visit program has been organized to facilitate relationship among pertinent agency concerning GIAHS in order to offer opportunities to study sustainable agricultural system between Africa and Japan by FAO.

Participants from Kenya and Ghana visited GIAHS sites including “Senga-Machi no Tanada” in Kikugawa city where terrace paddy rice fields are maintained by the local residents, Higashiyama area in Kakegawa city and Tea museum, Shizuoka.

A participant stated her impressions of the visit, “There are so many things to learn. And I will share the idea in homeland and put that to use in our activities from now on.”
