AWAGATAKE GIAHS Chagusaba terrace has been opened on May 30th, 2019 at the summit of Mt. Awagatake where the shape of the character for tea (cha) is seems like floating on the slope. The appearance of terrace has been uniquely designed based on the shape of “Kapposhi” which is the bundled dried grass such as Japanese silver grass and sasa broadleaf bamboo, eventually spread on the furrows from autumn to winter.

There is a mini-theater introducing the tea production by the Shizuoka’s Traditional Tea-Grass Integrated System and a café restaurant serving a tea made in Kakegawa on the first floor. You are able to see picturesque scenery of spreading vast tea fields cultivated by the system, Mt. Fuji, Suruga Bay and South Alps from the terrace on the second floor.

We are hoping to welcome visitors to this spot where you can fully enjoy the attraction of “Shizuoka’s Traditional Tea-Grass Integrated System”. Hiking trails climb up from the foothill of Mt.
